Gavin's Jog-A-Thon
Today was Gavin's Jog-a-thon for his school. He was excited, but not sure what to expect. Both of the kindergarten classes got out there and ran their little legs off in the rain. The kids had 30 minutes to run as many laps as they could. Each lap was 1/8 mile. I was so proud of Gavin. He ran 19 laps. I think the highest number in his class was 22 laps and there was one child in the other class that ran 24 laps.
Gavin started off with a thick jacket on, but quickly switched to his hoodie. His friend Billy (in red) is running right behind him.
This is when he told me he was getting too hot and didn't think he could keep running. He had only run 5 laps.
Here are Gavin and Chloe at the end of the run. Gavin was so proud of himself and very surprised at how many laps he had run. Chloe helped keep track of how many laps Gavin ran. She kept asking who was winning. Gavin was kind enough to share a few licks of his Popsicle with Chloe. Chloe is already making plans for her Jog-a-thon next year.

My Cousin Scott
This was a birthday party for Grandma around 1992.
This picture was taken at a family get together in 1990. My mom just called me and told me that my cousin Scott (second row, blue tank top) was killed yesterday in an ATV accident. I usually only like to post the happy moments on our blog, but it seems appropriate in this case to make an exception. His passing has caused me to stop and reflect upon the many fun times spent with my cousins when we were children. Time goes by too quickly. This is how I will always remember my little cousin Scottie.
Breakfast At Disneyland
The kids were so excited to have breakfast with Minnie Mouse and her friends. It was early in the morning, but we all had a lot of fun. At first the kids were really shy about going up to the characters, but after awhile they were asking us to take pictures of them with each of the characters. Chloe had her braids tweaked by many of the characters. She giggled through the whole meal.Friday, April 17, 2009
Princesses & Fairy Friends
Chloe and I waited in line for two hours to get pictures with the Princesses. Chloe was really excited while we were in line, but she became shy when it was her turn to talk with them. She forgot what she was going to ask them.
False Start
We were so excited to go to Disneyland for spring break. Our flight was suppose to leave late morning, but when we got to the airport the our plane was cancelled due to machanincal problems. We were glad they discovered the problems before we got on the plane. Luckily, we were standing at the baggage check-in desk when they made this announcement. We were able to immediately change our flight to the next out going plane. This gave us a couple of hours to kill, so we went back home and had a picnic in our side yard. Then we went back to the airport and started our Disneyland adventure.

Jump Around Birthday Party
On the 28th Gavin had a birthday party at Jump Around with some of his friends from school. We were so happy that so many of his friends were able to make it. There were 13 other March birthdays in his kindergarten class. This was the second party at Jump Around. Gavin had such a blast!

They all wanted to put their fingers in the cake.

Eventhough Gavin had a Star Wars themed party,
he wanted to have this Wall-E cake.

Gavin's 6th Birthday
We had a family birthday party at our house on Gavin's birthday, March 22nd.

This was Gavin's favorite gift, Star Wars Lego Wii game. He loves playing with Randy.

I made a white layered cake for Gavin. I couldn't believe he wanted white instead of chocolate.

Gavin Looses His First Tooth
While we were visiting my family in Portland, Gavin lost his first tooth. It was February 16th. It happened while he was at church. Luckily, he was in Aunt Heather's primary class. Gavin turned to Heather and said, "Help. My tooth is hanging off my lip." The tooth was barely holding on, so Heather was able to pull it out with only a little bit of bleeding. Randy wasn't with us in Portland and Gavin wanted to show him his tooth, so Heather told him that the Tooth Fairy doesn't work on Sunday and to save his tooth for her until he got home the next day. Heather is going to make a great mommy some day.

Here is Gavin with his coin on Tuesday morning.

Clara & Grandpa Visit
Clara and Grandpa came to visit us in February. Chloe and Clara had a blast dressing up and dancing around the house. I don't think I have ever heard Chloe giggle so much. Grandpa didn't have as much fun. He came to fix our computer and ended up having to take it home with him for some serious problem solving. Thanks Dad!

Scented Markers: Not Reccomended for 4 year Olds
When Chloe got up from her nap today she went into the craft room to color. This is not unusual for her. She is very creative. A short time later she came upstairs and gave me her big "I just did something noddy now guess what it is" smile. As I started to ask her what she had done her smile got bigger. This is when I took a closer look at her and realized that there was something not right about her nose.

Chloe had taken a yellow marker and colored all over her nose. Someone gave Chloe a set of scented markers for her birthday last year. Lemon seems to be her favorite scent. Earlier today when I was coloring with Chloe she kept smelling the yellow marker and saying, "Smell it mommy. It smells like yummy lemons." I guess she thought that if it was all over her nose she wouldn't need the marker. I couldn't stop laughing. Of course the scented markers will have to disappear. Chloe also thought it was funny until I told her I didn't know if I would be able to get it all off. She was very distressed with the idea of going through life with a yellow nose. Luckily after a lot of soap and scrubbing it all came off. I don't think she'll try that trick again.
